Parents urged to vaccinate

Delta pediatrician James M. Wilson V, M.D., director of the Ascel Bio National Infectious Disease Forecast Center, reports a high level of influenza in Delta County. Local healthcare providers have seen multiple instances of influenza outbreaks involving both parents and multiple children in the same family.

In the three weeks before winter break, CFES (College For Every Student) scholars at Delta Middle School ran a penny drive to collect money for the Abraham Connection Homeless Shelter. The students raised just over $300. The picture shows Reagan Clay and CFES scholars presenting the check to Ray Smith, a member of the Abraham Connection board of directors.

Scholarships offered to college students

Once again, the Friends of Ridgway State Park, Inc. is offering two $1,000 scholarships to college students who have completed at least one semester of post-secondary education. Applicants must have graduated from high schools in Mesa, Delta, Montrose, or Ouray counties and be enrolled in studies leading to a degree in environmental sciences or equivalent.
