High school artists show lots of talent

c02 art1Photo by Bob Borchardt Cleo Whiting, a senior at Delta High School, won three-dimensional best of show with this inch worm sculpture.The 25th annual Western Slope High School Art Show is on display at the AppleShed Arts Complex and Gallery, 250 S. Grand Mesa Drive in Cedaredge, through April 29. Hours are Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Delta Middle School had two Destination Imagination teams this year. Gone Squatchin’ (pictured above) included Lucy Streich, Logan Freed, Meysa Mulford, Matthew Easter, Hannah Branson, Lizzy Ward and Makyla Miramontes. Sierra Nelson, Caleb Miramontes, Thomas Niel, Kaleb Hawkins, Nathan Sanders and Sheali King were members of Let’s Twist. The Destination Imagination program encourages teams of learners to have fun, take risks, focus and frame challenges while incorporating STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), the arts and service learning.
