The month of March sees the arrival of state testing in Delta County Schools. To kick off the 2013 tests at Paonia Elementary School and encourage students to put forth their best efforts, the staff recognized students who had high growth or advanced scores on their 2012 tests. The PES staff is extremely proud of all of the students and know that they will perform just as well in 2013 as they did in 2012.

Educational options abound

Under the supervision of Sharon Peterson, students saturate water with powdered sugar to make rock candy.When it comes to education, the youth in Delta County are blessed with a variety of options. But because public schools are prohibited from using religious curriculum, some parents still opt for home-centered programs like Classical Conversations.

Four Hotchkiss DI teams head to state

B06 di1Photo submitted Capturing first place in the middle school category were Determined Investigators with Carson Collins, Taylor West, Cory West, Cara Littlefield and coach Sue Everest.Hotchkiss K8 principal Carrie Coats called it, "Hotchkiss pride in action." The school had four teams competing in the regional Destination Imagination in Palisade on March 23.
