The following Garnet Mesa students earned a Terrific Kid Award from the Kiwanis Club of Delta for their efforts to be a responsible citizen and student. The DCMH Volunteers will award scholarships for 2013 graduates who plan to continue their education in any health-care related field. Applicants may be graduates of any Delta County high school.

Trish Kendrick, the P.E. teacher at Garnet Mesa Elementary School, warms up with a group of young girls involved in the Girls on the Run program. Two afternoons a week, girls from Cedaredge, Delta, Hotchkiss and Paonia gather with volunteer coaches to train for a 5k run/walk in May. Read more about this unique program on page A5.
