In 1937, Wilbur Oversteg established Delta Implement at 112 West 3rd Street, now the parking lot behind the Delta Area Chamber of Commerce building. In 1959, he sold the John Deere dealership to a family from Texas by the name of Mangum.

The third year of declining enrollment is being reported in Delta County Joint School District #50. The numbers were not unexpected; school officials had only to compare the graduating classes to the incoming kindergartners to predict a drop in enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year.

Human remains located in September 2009 in the Bear Creek area of Gunnison County have been positively identified as Sheri Lynn Trujillo (Espinoza). The Delta County Sheriff’s Office received notification from the University of North Texas Health Science Center last week.

Though not legally allowed to take an official position against Proposition 101 and Amendments 60 and 61, which Coloradoans will vote on this November, the board of directors for the Delta County Ambulance District decided that in the coming months they would draft a “resolution of concern” over the three issues.
Using preliminary numbers based on the information available now, district manager Doug Laufer and board treasurer Linda Lowitz presented to the board some situations the district may face if the proposition and amendments pass.

Volunteer coordinator Brenda Burns (center) goes over some scheduling routines with local CASAs Noemi Velez and Rich Garrett during a training orientation at the newly opened CASA office at 511 E. 5th in Delta, east of Delta Middle School.
About one month ago, an office opened in Delta with a small staff that is planning to deal with a huge need here.
Innocent children who become caught up in the court system because of personal or social failures by their parents, or for a variety other reasons, need caring and knowledgeable adults to be their advocates and their voices in the midst of the confusion that surrounds them.
