What influence is 24-hour media coverage having on our country?  More importantly, what influence does 24-hour media coverage have on you?  I'm glad you asked.

In my circle of friends and acquaintances I see worry, despair, fear and concern because of what is practically a continual input of information during every waking moment that is presented by various media outlets.  It is not that I believe we need to go back in time to when there were no radios, television stations or the internet.  It is simply that I know our society is losing the will and ability to seek and recognize the truth.  Finding, recognizing and accepting the truth does truly set a person free from a vast burden of worry and concern.

Historically, media outlets including newspaper, radio and television were considered the believable and honest source of journalistic integrity and they existed to provide us with news.  Beginning in the 1960’s a large contingency of these media sources left journalistic integrity behind in favor of an agenda driven presentation of biased reporting to the American Public.

Progressives mix of the words Journalism and Media.  The ability to interchange these words provides a platform for agenda driven media outlets to present as journalistically honest news that which is in fact biased and agenda driven media presentations.  While lying to the public, these media outlets wave a flag of honesty and integrity calling themselves journalists.

When looked at, the definitions of the words journalism and media have very different meanings.  Journalism, “The collecting, writing, editing, and presenting of news through newspapers, magazines, broadcast, or online.  It involves reporting on ideas and events as they occur or after they have occurred".  Media, “The means of communication, as radio and television, newspapers, magazines and internet".   Any presentation of information to the public is media.  "Saturday Night Live", "Monday Night Football", re-runs of "The Andy Griffith Show" as well as many of the morning, mid-day and evening programs that label themselves as part of a news organization all are defined as media.

Keep in mind: Media is simply a method of presenting information to the public and Journalism is the researching and reporting of news events that have happened or are happening at the moment.

It is impossible for journalistic integrity to be the function of reporting what might happen in the future or what someone "really" meant when they made a given statement.  Guessing the future and reading minds is not reporting news. Blindly following the advice of media pundits and self-proclaimed experts is a behavior that starts when a person either does not take the time to think through what they are hearing or reading or by someone who does not know how to use the God-given ability use truth for their own benefit.  The best way for a person to cut through a dark cloud of media deceit is to seek and recognize the truth, then apply their own common sense to the situation and draw their own conclusions.

The truth can and will find you if you seek it.  Not all, but many of our media celebrities are simply self-serving, self-important pompous snobs whose words are a blend of ridiculous, foolish, illogical baloney with a large topping of meadow-muffins.  If you are finding yourself depressed because of the information you are receiving from the media outlets you choose, then please check for yourself and see how much of what you are hearing is the truth.

Can you think of someone of national recognition who can honestly be described as a journalist?

"True journalism requires that guessing the future be reserved for the clairvoyant, the psychic, the medium, the fortuneteller, or the local voodoo doctor . . . . . . . .  Journalists do not, let that be repeated, do not present personal opinion as a news event."
