Step up to the Plate

More Help For President Obama's Reelection

- Step Up To The Plate -

Dear President Obama,

What a week of competition this last week has been.  The World Series is over and Saint Louis is celebrating a victory.  You appear to still be struggling with support for your campaign.  While watching baseball this week I had some thoughts that I think can help you.

There were some great home runs and some equally important singles and doubles hit.  How supportive the fans were for each of these successes.  While watching these events unfold, I recognized the one thing required for each of those hits to take place, the batter had to step up to the plate before they could experience the success of the hit.  The American Public supports those who step up to the plate, swing at the pitch, and then show us the positive results of their efforts.  With the World Series fresh on the minds of a lot of people, you have a great opportunity to gather support from the public by presenting yourself like those athletes have been doing.

During an at-bat, I have never seen a major league batter, during their at-bat, talk about who won or lost the World's Series the previous year?  I know the fans would not support an athlete who did so.  My advice is that you step up to the plate and tell us which of your plans have had great success in the past and what the current results of those successes are.  I think the American Public is having difficulty supporting your campaign when you find yourself talking about the batter before you, President Bush, instead of telling us about your successes.

You have described yourself as a Progressive and you must believe that Progressive programs are beneficial.  Don't hide the successes you have brought to America through your plans.  Step right up and tell the public what those success are and how they have helped us.

I'll be looking forward to watching you on the campaign trail next week.  If I can think of any way to help you, I'll let you know.  If you want me to give you any of my thoughts in advance of this newspaper column, have your staff contact me at the email address below.
