- Who Do You Trust? -
Modern Progressives call themselves journalists when, in fact, they are actually opinion givers, entertainers, fabricators, promoters, storytellers and flat out liars and many of them do not know the difference.
Journalists "never", let me repeat, "never" present personal opinion as news. When a journalist presents either their personal opinion or the opinion of someone else, they must first clearly define to their audience that they are reporting an opinion. This is why most newspapers have an opinion and/or editorial section for this purpose and television news programs have historically had personal opinion segments at the end of some news reports. When the writer states a personal opinion, everyone watching should be able to understand that a personal opinion is being expressed. Progressive's presenting information to the public leaves us to question whether or not the person or organization making the presentation has a financial, political or social agenda they are propagating?
Who was the most trusted man in America? To a few under-thirty year-olds I found that 5 of 8 could not answer, “Walter Cronkite.” Walter Cronkite was a television news anchor for CBS News from 1962 until his retirement from that position in 1981. His career as a reporter spanned 45 years from 1937 through 1982. During the 1960’s and 1970’s while a broadcast journalist he was given the title of “The Most Trusted Man In America.” Can you think of a single broadcast media celebrity in our country today for which that title would be appropriate?
Recently I have read newspaper articles that start with something like, "Yesterday the (pick a name) newspaper said…..". I have heard television programming that labels themselves news programs that start with the same kind of statement where their entire report was simply their opinion of what was said on a different television program earlier. Today I find that many media outlets consider it appropriate and defendable to present to me as a news story their version of reporting what another media outlet said about a person or issue.
I can think of three reasons for this kind of media presentation. First, the business presenting the information to me in this manner has a desire to maintain journalistic integrity yet they do not have the resources in money and personnel to do a good job. Second, the business has no intention of maintaining journalistic integrity promoting sensationalism for the purpose of making money. Third, the business is driven by a specific agenda and the information they present to the public is done with an intention to promote that agenda. Can you think of a fourth reason?
What has caused this phenomenon? I believe it is a major tool of the Modern American Progressive Movement that is driven by 24-hour news and media information being presented to the public. Pay attention to what you read and truly listen to what you hear from our media outlets.
