There’s no lack of transparency from Sal Pace

As members of the host committee for the Paonia fundraiser for Rep. Sal Pace we would like to express our thanks for the many people who worked hard to make it a success. The local food and wine were awesome and the generosity of the local community was evident.

We were pleased to host Rep. Pace as he campaigns across one of the most politically and geographically challenging congressional districts in the United States. At 34 years old he's a member of a solid working class family (the youngest of nine with three children of his own). Like many of us, they have weathered this recession and know what it's like to work hard to make ends meet.

Prior to this fundraiser, Rep. Pace was interviewed by the Montrose Daily Press, KVNF Public Radio (for later broadcast) and by Kathy Browning of this newspaper as well as held an informal meeting for small businesses in Delta earlier in the day which was also covered by this paper. His visit to Delta County was well documented.

We were sorry to see that David Jacobson decided not to join the gathering. His concern is understandable (letters to the editor, Sept. 12 DCI), but he needn't fear lack of transparency from the Pace campaign. Sal has made numerous trips to the North Fork Valley and he stepped up to contact the Secretary of the Interior to slow down the gas leasing process that created such a furor this past spring. He is no stranger to the valley.

Again, we were happy to see the turnout for the event and we look forward to future visits from Rep. Sal Pace and his family.We extend our thanks to the Delta County Independent for its coverage of the visit.
