The elected officials of both Delta and Crawford have spoken, at least for 56 percent of the population. They want no part of Amendment 64.
I also assume that means they want no part of the estimated $40 million annual tax revenue either from legalized and regulated sales. If equally divided among Colorado counties that would roughly be somewhere between $300 and $350,000 a year for Delta County.
I am writing all elected officials in Colorado to propose that only those counties who recognize and implement Amendment 64 share in the proceeds from its sales. Maybe our same officials can have cannibis-free bake sales to make up the chronic budget deficits that funds from Amendment 64 could offset.
