The foundation of our freedom
Dear Editor:
In this county we are very fortunate to have a sheriff with the leadership of Fred McKee.
All of the Colorado county sheriffs, led by Sheriff McKee, have stood firmly for the Second Amendment of the Constitution.
The Second Amendment protects our rights to bear arms; protects us from a rogue government; and secures every other freedom we have.
History proves, and our Founding Fathers knew, that without a responsible, armed citizenry, an out-of-control government can pressure its people into anything.
Some of us have seen the statement with a sword and sickle noting "Bad government loves gun control." This hints back to Hitler's and Stalin's reigns of tyranny.
It has been stated, "When the government fears the people, there is freedom. But when the people fear the government, there is tyranny." Free-thinking citizens can guess where this country is headed.
