We all have to do our part to conserve water

Dear Editor:

I understand the water shortage issue. I respect the need to conserve water.

My family does not waste water. We have water-saving toilets, we take quick showers, we don't leave water running. We launder full loads of clothes.

Before we restrict farmers and gardeners, let's start with car washes, golf courses, decorative fountains and automatic toilets that flush at least three times before you can get out of the stall. Some people depend heavily on their garden and we all need the farms. I believe all of us can manage for awhile without lawns, golf courses and car washes, and I'm pretty sure most of us are capable of flushing a toilet.

Anyone with common sense should know even if you have a lawn you do not run the sprinklers when the wind is blowing or in the heat of the day, and you sure don't sprinkle the street. We will do our part to save water, but if we have to give up our garden this year or let our few fruit trees die, I better see people playing golf on a brown course.
