Starting the week of April 29 through the end of September, over 600 people will be coming to Paonia to participate in Solar Energy International's (SEI) renewable energy training program. The participants and their families come from all 50 states and around the world for intensive hands-on training on solar electric, heating, and water pumping systems.
Our students are engineers, electricians, professors, roofers, college students, ranchers, home-owners, retirees, second- careerers, businessmen, utility workers, government employees, IT specialists and enthusiasts. They are from all political parties and socio-economic backgrounds. However, the thing that unites them is the power and viability of solar energy, and they want to be a part of it.
Solar Energy International, which is located on Matthews Lane near the old Chaco factory in Paonia, is one of the oldest and largest renewable energy training organizations in the country. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit that has trained over 25,000 people in how to design and install renewable energy systems.
Our students consistently comment on how welcoming the community is. Thank you to John and Susie Coombe for use of the classroom and to Mark for always helping with logistics! To the local restaurants and drinking establishments, the B&Bs, motels, shops and each person who makes our students feel welcome, thank you! We look forward to another successful season with you!
