By now you've all received your DMEA ballots in the mail. I hope you will use this ballot to elect board members who will actually serve you.
Every DMEA board meeting has an executive session which excludes members from even knowing what is being discussed. For several months the boardroom has been filled with members wanting to know why the board is taking certain actions, such as changing bylaws to allow reinstatement of a board member who has a conflict of interest because he works for a competitor. This is not good business practice. You would never ask a business competitor to decide what you should pay employees, purchase, review your audit and set a long-range business plan — even if they promised to recuse themselves when they felt they had a conflict of interest. Really?
Tony Prendergast, Erica Lewis Kennedy and Olen Lund are people who can help lead us through some difficult times ahead. Remember, you are not just a member of DMEA — you are a member owner. Let's own this election. Vote today.
