Dear Editor:
We should all be thankful for the hard work the Delta City Council has done, and continues to do, to keep the City of Delta growing and progressing in the most responsible manner possible. In an effort to do so, council members must always take into consideration the wishes and desires of the residents and make some tough decisions on what is best.
Dear Editor:
At any time, you can read or hearing something negative in the news about our area. Times are hard and many residents are facing very tough times.
Dear Editor:
I would like to take an opportunity to make note of a special person in our community. His name is Christian and he works at the Delta County Library.
Dear Editor:
It hurts to hear about children being harmed in any way, but to shoot them as they sit in their classroom learning their ABC's is unconscionable. The person who did this horrible thing should not have his name mentioned or even talked about.
Dear Editor:
The North Fork Valley constitutes one of only 189 American Viticultural Areas (AVA) in the United States. Napa, in California, is another.
Dear Editor:
The elected officials of both Delta and Crawford have spoken, at least for 56 percent of the population. They want no part of Amendment 64.
Dear Editor:
Once again we find ourselves having to protect our North Fork Valley from the gas and oil industry and the BLM as the latter renews efforts to lease thousands of acres for exploration and potential drilling right here where we live. Once more, as taxpayers and property owners, we find ourselves having to spend dozens, if not hundreds of hours, protecting ourselves from our own government.
Dear Editor:
Even though I was born at the Hotchkiss Hospital and grew up in Paonia, I have since lived in East Texas and have worked on projects in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Therefore, this holiday season always reminds me of the story of the Oklahoma youngster who showed up at the Christmas pageant dressed as a wiseman with a fireman's hat.
Dear Editor:
I offer my congratulations and thanks to all involved in bringing about the seventh/eighth grade basketball tournament which was held at Paonia Junior/Senior High School. It was such a pleasure to watch all the players as they demonstrated the skills they are developing.
Dear Editor:
In his Dec. 5 DCI letter to the editor, Jans Lange asks the BLM to refrain from "rolling over to attempts to halt the February BLM lease sale of 15 parcels in Delta County's North Fork Valley." Mr. Lange further states that "we as Americans need to promote the safe and environmentally sound recovery of our nationally resources."
