Dear Editor:
During Colorado's ongoing drought, the importance of cooperation with our neighbor to the south was highlighted in the Colorado Water Conservation Board press release, "Colorado part of historic water treaty with Mexico," printed in the Delta County Independent on Nov. 26.
Dear Editor:
The BLM's recent an-nouncement of a proposed 20,000-acre oil and gas lease sale in the North Fork Valley proves it institutionally entrenched in persistent indifference to the clearly stated will of the people. Worse still, they demonstrate fawning submissiveness to obsolete processes elevating the business plans of extractive industry over the needs of sustainable human communities.
Dear Editor:
The elections are finally over and we have what we have, like it or not. It will be more than interesting to see what develops over the next few weeks.
Dear Editor:
Congrats to Cedaredge, Hotchkiss and all the other teams in the valley for their efforts this football season!

Dear Editor:
There was a great deal of discussion about our country's troubling financial situation during this year's election. Deservedly so, our $16 trillion national debt was widely discussed.
Dear Editor:
It was a wonderful thing to have had three out of the four high school teams in Delta County in the semifinals for Colorado high school football this year. My congratulations go to the coaching staffs and young men from all four schools.
Dear Editor:
After reading Delta County Republican Party Chairman Don Suppes's letter in the Nov. 14 issue of the DCI, we feel compelled to respond, although in a somewhat different vein than Mr. Suppes' gloomy vision of our country's future.
First, we are heartened that so many Delta County citizens voted in the election.
Dear Editor:
The close results between political rivals in this election belie the heartfelt wish of nearly ALL Americans. We all want change in Washington, D.C.
Dear Editor:
Since 2002, the Conservation Center has been advocating for the capture of coal mine methane gas. We've worked with the Bureau of Land Management, Colorado government officials, the Gunnison County Commissioners, chambers of commerce and the North Fork coal mines during the past 10 years to raise awareness of the potential benefits of capturing methane gas vented from coal mines and converting it to electricity.
Dear Editor:
Tuesday night's election was the end of a long-fought battle. Many of us in rural America had no idea the outcome would turn out the way it did.
