Social security cap should be removed

Dear Editor:

To answer Bernie Heideman's questions about what is "more likely" for most people ("The rich just keep getting richer, May 30), I need to point out that fueling resentment against the super rich by reminding the rest of us what we DON'T have is non productive argument. Tax increases on any segment of society trickle down to increased costs for the rest of us.

School board is out of control

Dear Editor:

Our school board is out of control. Not only are their decisions arbitrary, random and contradictory but show absolutely no understanding of educational governance or concern for students, district personnel or the community at large.

If you see something that doesn’t look right, call 911

Dear Editor:

A young Florida man is walking home from a convenience store. He is minding his own business and is no threat to anybody else, but another man spies him and for reasons known only to himself, he decides to follow that young man, even though a 911 operator he called to report what he was doing tells him not to do that.

The ideal candidate

Dear Editor:

Mark Roeber is an ideal candidate for Delta County Commissioner from District 3. Not only was he born and raised in the North Fork Valley, but he has made it home for himself, his wife and their four children.

Roeber’s actions will be guided by fairness

Dear Editor:

If you don't mind having a nuclear waste dump or carcass disposal site right next door, vote for Roger Bentley for District #3 Republican County Commissioner candidate. If a confined animal operation with 5,000 skunks next door won't bother you, vote for Roger Bentley.

My letters to the editor on the various controversies/hypocrisies became so long that I decided to stick to the old adage "A picture says a million words" or however it goes.

Anyway, I created a comic strip named "North Fork City Limits."

The rich just keep getting richer

Dear Editor:

What is more likely: that you will need Social Security and Medicare when you retire, OR that you will resent the taxes you have to pay on your million dollar income? What is more likely: that your family will need food stamps, OR that you will not have to pay attention to how much you're spending at a very fancy restaurant?

Crumbling roads need attention

Dear Editor:

Apparently the town of Delta doesn't care enough about its crumbling roads, but instead cares about a golf course. Why do I say this?

Delta County, don’t fall prey to ‘sustainable development’ agendas

Dear Editor:

ArchCoal's West Elk Mine could run out of coal in less than five years if they continue to be denied access to their leases to the coal underlying the Sunset Roadless Area due to the U.S. Forest Service 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule. Miners and loggers are increasingly being prevented access to public land due to UN Agenda 21 types of policies such as the Wildlands Project (more below).
