Dear Editor:
I understand the emotional need to take some action to prevent further tragedies like that at Sandy Hook, but we need to exercise reason over emotion in fashioning a solution. Outlawing hunting guns that look like military weapons won't solve the problem; there will still be hunting guns that don't look like military weapons that are just as lethal.
Dear Editor:
The Connecticut school shooting tears at the heartstrings of every parent. We must find ways to stop such violence, but more gun laws are not the answer, as statistics prove and common sense verifies.
Dear Editor:
Wake up, America!
Americans waste more energy than most people on this planet use.

BLM seems hell bent on opening the oil and gas floodgates in the North Fork without knowing or caring whether a storm is coming. Leasing of oil and gas mineral rights grants a legal right to access all the oil and gas that may be under a leased parcel, and the 20,000-plus acres slated to be thrust on the block in the February lease sale make up a critical part of the North Fork Valley.
Dear Editor:
Here in the North Fork Valley we just had meetings with the BLM where citizens were not allowed to comment — we have never had a forum with them where we could — and the leases go up for sale in less than three weeks, on Valentine's Day; how appropriate is that?! Another one of their "in your face" intimidation tactics, subtle to some, but not to me.
Dear Editor:
As an avid hunter and outdoorsman in western Colorado I had the opportunity to volunteer with Outdoors Alive, Inc. this past year and it was an experience that I won't soon forget.
Outdoors Alive, Inc. is a non-profit organization that focuses on creating outdoor recreation opportunities for everyone from youth and women to veterans and wounded warriors.
Dear Editor:
Civil disobedience is defined as the active professed refusal to obey certain laws, demands and commands of a government. I believe that 90 percent of the drivers on the highways are in a state of civil disobedience because as I drive at the speed limit most of the drivers pass me up.
Dear Editor:
On Friday, Jan. 25, the U.S. Court of Appeals in D.C. ruled that Obama appointments made to the National Labor Relations Board were unconstitutional. Let us pray this is a sign of the downsizing of our "Big Brother" and disregard of the Constitution government has started.

Dear Editor:
I want to commend the Delta Police Department and specifically thank Officer David Parham for his prompt action when he and a Walmart manager worked together to return my wallet after I foolishly left my purse in a shopping cart. I couldn't believe my good fortune when Officer Parham called to tell me my wallet had been retrieved.
Dear Editor:
I attended the rulemaking hearing of the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) on setbacks from houses and buildings. I testified representing the NFRIA-WSERC Conservation Center in my position as a volunteer director, introducing the Western Slope environmental community.
