Another $1 day for Pioneer Town! The entire museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Color Sunday, Sept. 30. Demonstrations and special displays will be found in various locations.
Blacksmith Paul Michaels will be giving away trinkets to those visiting the blacksmith shop.
Dick McGuire will be instructing people on making a leather item to take home, as well as displaying items for sale. He will have a work table set up in the carriage shed, next to the silos.
Cranky Quilter Polly Pulver will be demonstrating her hand crank sewing machine and will have some items for sale. You will find her cranking away in Silo #1.
The Black Canyon Photo Club members will display some of their photographs in the Stolte Shed. The club will also have some items for sale.
Be sure to stop by the Lizard Head Saloon to taste a sample of ginger beer (non-alcoholic) and receive a pair of giveaway "beer-ings" (beer bottle cap earrings).
Children from Cedaredge Elementary School have made some items for display.
Organ music will be played throughout the day at the Chapel of the Cross.
A membership table will be set up near the front door of the Welcome Center for those who would like to renew their membership, or become a member of the Surface Creek Valley Historical Society and support Pioneer Town.
Cedaredge anchors one end of the Color Sunday Road Trip along the Grand Mesa Scenic Byway. Throughout the weekend there will be food, music and fun offered up between Mesa and Cedaredge.
In Mesa, take in the annual arts and crafts fair at the Mesa Community Center. There will be all types of crafts and foods available and the proceeds will benefit the library. They will also be serving up a dinner of turkey and all the fixings from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Stop by Powerdown for lift rides and live music featuring Honey Don't and Pineapple Crackers.
Also, look for great activities and interpretive programs at the Grand Mesa Visitor Center. The Forest Service reports the fall colors are at peak now and if the weather cooperates the leaves should remain on the trees and provide a great showing for Color Sunday.blog comments powered by Disqus
