Sky Fairlamb retires as judge

The alternate municipal judge for the Town of Cedaredge, Delta attorney Mike Schottelkotte, will be serving as the town's judge after the retirement last week of Sky Fairlamb, Mayor Pat Means has told the DCI.

Fairlamb told the DCI, "I plan to travel with my wife while we now have the chance. I just turned 70." Fairlamb has also stepped down from his duties as municipal judge at Olathe.

Means told the DCI, "We have been trying to hold municipal court once every two months." She added that Schottelkotte is expected to serve as judge "until the spring" when an official appointment to the municipal judge post is made by the town board.

Cedaredge Town Administrator Katie Sickles confirmed, "Sky Fairlamb resigned (Thursday, Dec. 6) as the Cedaredge Municipal Judge and on Friday as the Olathe Municipal Judge. Sky was originally appointed by the board of trustees as the alternate judge Feb. 26, 1998."

He was appointed to the municipal judgeship in February 2002, Sickles said, adding, "I appreciate Judge Fairlamb's commitment to Cedaredge and his outstanding service to the community."
