Cedaredge welcomes new police officer

c01 russelOfficer Travis RussellThe newest employee at the Cedaredge Police Department is Travis Russell, code enforcement officer.

He was introduced to the town trustees and staff during the Nov. 15 town board meeting.

Officer Russell's duties at the department will include responding to citizen calls about matters dealing with the municipal code, including health and safety issues, weed and rubbish complaints, and other matters. The town's code enforcement officer does not handle animal control issues which are dealt with by another member of the town staff.

Officer Russell comes to the CPD with prior law enforcement experience in corrections, municipal, and county agencies.

Officer Russell and his family have come to Cedaredge from Trinidad. He said that he and his family are enjoying the town's friendly people and atmosphere.

Cedaredge Police Chief Robert Yant said that winter, a normally slow time for code enforcement work in the town, is providing a good opportunity for training and learning the community. After only three weeks on the job, Russell is doing well, the chief said.
