Rotary contributes to community garden

The check for $250 was presented by Paul Lyons, club president.

He gave the check to Gerry Mendrella, community garden board member.

Others present for the event were Cedaredge Mayor Pat Means; Dea Jacobson, community garden board treasurer; and Larry Claxton, project manager of the garden.

According to board members, the community garden was established and produced the first harvest in 2009.

Funds needed for this year are for windscreen on the south side of the garden and a rototiller and capital monies for garden expansion.

There will be some openings for gardeners to participate in the garden this year. Anyone interested may contact John Steighner at 970-856-1011.

The garden is located at 250 SE High Country Avenue.
There is a new web page with information about the garden: www.highcountrycommunitygarden.com/ccg. The site is also accessible through the Town of Cedaredge site. The garden donates to the food bank. There are 24 gardening plots, four raised beds, and a solar powered greenhouse.
