The meeting started with the installation of officers.

The new executive board consists of Debbie Griffith, president; Linda Lowitz, vice president and program chairman; Teri Stephenson, secretary; and Lisa Tafoya, treasurer.

While enjoying a potluck lunch of finger food, members listened to a presentation by Olga Kehmeier. Olga shared information on human trafficking. Speaking on behalf of the organization Sarah's Home, Olga is working to raise awareness for increased Colorado penalties for human trafficking crimes and to promote a safe harbor law for victims.

Located on the Front Range, Sarah's Home is a Christian long-term safe home for underage girls who have been rescued from the forced commercial sex trade.

Additional club business included the presentation of a thank you gift to Dorothy Kehmeier for her services during the past year.

Gifts were also presented to outgoing officers vice president, Anne Snyer and secretary/treasurer Susan Keiser.

February's scheduled guest is Kirby Clock, manager of the Delta County Ambulance District. Kirby will share information on the varied services provided. A portion of the district's operating budget is funded by property tax.

Surface Creek Republican Women meets regularly on the third Tuesday of each month during the lunch hour with a finger food potluck. Membership is open to any Republican woman qualified to vote in Delta County. Associate memberships are also available and men are welcome to join.
