A promised circus event at Cedaredge Community Center that had been advertised by colorful posters around town for weeks was abruptly declared cancelled last week before any March 15 performance would take place.
Promoters of the circus event had contacted town officials to get information about business licenses requirements and other matters, the DCI was told.
But calls to the promoters to conclude arrangements were not returned and the promoters could not be contacted.
So, the word went out late last week that the event was being cancelled.
Cedaredge Police told the DCI last Thursday that they had not become aware of any solicitations for ticket sales or of anyone who had paid money in hopes of getting tickets to the advertised circus.
In an unrelated incident a couple of months ago, the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce cancelled a relationship with an out-of-area advertising promotion company because of complaints about the company's follow-through on commitments.
