An overnight break-in on March 9 at Big E Antiques in Eckert has resulted in the loss of a laptop computer containing business records and personal information that owners Gary and Lisa Espinoza are hoping can be recovered and returned to them.
They have offered a $500 reward for the return of the computer with its information intact.
"No questions asked," Lisa said.
It was about 3 a.m. the night of the incident that Lisa told Gary she heard someone in the store, which attaches to their living quarters.
Gary said that he went out into the store and found no one there. But he discovered two doors that are used to gain entry to the store had been left open.
On further investigation, he found the cash register's coin tray on the floor, and a small amount of cash from the register was gone. A jar which holds donations used to help neighbors pay for high water bills when service line leaks boost meter readings was also missing.
An old .22 caliber single-shot rifle and a Canon 35 mm camera and two lenses were also gone.
Most important among the missing items was the laptop computer containing personal and business records. Gary and Lisa are very eager to see the computer returned. It is a Dell, is silver in color, and has a 15.6-inch screen.
Gary said following the burglary that no other items of significant value had been discovered missing.
Deputy Chris Ledoux told the DCI that the incident is still under investigation.
Gary said he hopes the incident would be publicized by the Delta County CrimeStoppers who offer a reward for information leading to arrest and/or conviction.
