Downtown businesses in Cedaredge have come up with the idea for a unique promotional event pointing out that the Main Street reconstruction work won't be closing down retail trade.
Along with the Cedaredge Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Cedaredge, the businesses are planning some block party festivities and an official ground-breaking to start the West Main Street improvements project.
Called the Back Door Block Party, the main message is that local businesses will remain open during the summer-long street work, and that if their front door accesses are obstructed during the work, there are back door entrances to businesses that customers can conveniently use.
The events will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, on Main Street with a ground-breaking ceremony.
Block party events are planned to begin at 5 p.m. and continue to 7 p.m.
The first phase of West Main Street improvements will reconstruct the downtown area from Grand Mesa Drive (Highway 65) to NW 3rd Street. Work will cause some disruptions for business accesses onto Main Street. But, says Vaughn Duckworth of DreamWeaver, businesses will remain open and many have access through back doors that open onto the big public parking area.blog comments powered by Disqus
