As the Cedaredge Town Board's Aug. 8 public hearing on Colorado's legalized marijuana law approaches, it is reported that agents with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration on July 24 "raided several medical marijuana dispensaries in the Puget Sound area" of Washington state.
Washington, like Colorado, has moved to legalize marijuana use, but the drug is still illegal under federal statute.
The Cedaredge trustees are planning a public airing of provisions in the Colorado law that allow local jurisdictions to ban various types of marijuana businesses. The town has a moratorium in place banning the establishments until a final ordinance is adopted.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. prior to the trustees' regular, second Thursday of the month work session.blog comments powered by Disqus
