Book Party on the Porch was "wonderful fun, thanks to the local authors who participated in the event and those who attended," according to Robin Rogers, coordinator of the event. She said, "The Welcome Center, entrance to Pioneer Town, is that and so much more!
There is a wealth of information to be found there for not only out-of-town visitors, but also for anyone living in the Surface Creek Valley and surrounding areas."
Entrance to that building is always free to the public. Inside you'll find a welcoming volunteer, some historical exhibits, and a comfortable place to sit and watch interesting videos about the area.
Maps and brochures of local businesses are available. There's a place to shop for gifts, many reminiscent of a bygone era. There are items made by arts and crafts people from our area and a selection of books, many written by local authors.
Interest in recent past events, such as the Zentangle demonstration, photography show and book party has encouraged planners to consider other family-oriented special events at the Welcome Center.
