Two works of art created by Hazel Manzingo of Orchard City have been juried into the International Mile High Pastel Exhibition. This collection of paintings from artists from around the U.S., Spain and Canada showcases the very best in the pastel medium, selected from 269 entries by nationally known award-winning juror Lorenzo Chavez.
One of Manzingo's pieces features horses gathered beneath a shade tree. It is titled "The Shade Tree Bunch." "R&R" features chairs on a covered porch.
Manzingo is a profesional artist but said each piece is juried on its merit, so even beginners have a chance to be selected. "This is always a spectacular show," she said.
Sponsored by the Pastel Society of Colorado, the exhibition opens with an awards ceremony Friday, Sept. 6, at the Western Colorado Center for the Arts, 1803 N. 7th, Grand Junction. The juror and many of the exhibiting artists will be present. All works will be available for sale. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
The show runs through Sept. 28.blog comments powered by Disqus
