High energy and school spirit will be in evidence everywhere this week in Cedaredge as Cedaredge High School students, staff, and faculty participate in annual homecoming activities Sept. 23-27.
The high-spirited activities on the week's schedule include dress-up days, assemblies, special after-school events, a giant mid-week bonfire, and the homecoming parade with all of the excitement culminating, of course, at the big game against the rival Hotchkiss Bulldogs on Friday.
The annual homecoming dance crowns the week's activities on Saturday from 8-11 p.m. at the school.
The Bulldogs will be growling for revenge in this year's game after the Bruins beat them twice in 2012 on the way to the state championship title. The game will provide plenty of spirit and excitement with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday.
Prior to the game, the week's activities will build school spirit and an energetic, fun feeling with dress-up days that began Monday. It will be a week-long seminar in creative thinking as students are challenged to don the robes of various candy brands (Starburst, Pop Rocks, Jolly Rancher, candy corn, Lifesavers, Smarties), and a variety of favorite candy bars.
On Friday, dress-up gets down to the serious business at hand with a blue-and-white theme in preparation for the homecoming parade at 1:30 and big, all-school pep rally.
Every day of the week features a special assembly with a special agenda of activities, spirited chants, and some friendly competition among classes.
After-school hours continue the school spirit-building with light social activities including a movie night, a chili cook-off on Tuesday (entries at 3 p.m., and judging at 5) and the much-awaited annual bonfire on Wednesday.
A giant stack of wooden pallets has been assembled for the occasion that will provide a huge and hot blaze going off around sunset and representing tall the passion of "Bruin Pride."blog comments powered by Disqus
