The Christmas season got off to a start on Saturday, Nov. 9, in Cedaredge with the eighth annual Crafts Festival.
The event, which was held in the downtown area last year, was staged this year at Cedaredge Middle School.
The sponsor of the event was Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church.
JoAnn Price, who helped organize the festival this year and in past years, said there were 32 paid participants. The CMS gym was filled to full with tables of displays and hanging decorations that spread the holiday spirit to everyone who entered.
Price said that proceeds raised by the event, which attracted crafters from around the region, have been pledged to the Methodist Church's elevator fund.
The CCUMC congregation has been working for several years to raise money needed to install an elevator in their historic church building located at NW 3rd and Aspen Avenue in Cedaredge.
Work has been underway building a structural framework for the elevator that will carry Sunday worshipers and other passengers to three different levels in the building. It will replace the chair lift that had been installed previously.
Price said that the men of the church have taken on the task of major work in the construction effort.
The elevator is on order but has not yet arrived for installation.blog comments powered by Disqus
