In the annual calendar of patriotic celebrations and remembrances, Memorial Day stands out as the most solemn of them all. It is the occasion when those who died in defense of America and in defending American freedoms are remembered and honored. Surface Creek Valley members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Boy Scouts of America joined on Monday for Memorial Day observances at Cedaredge Cemetery, Cory Cemetery, and above at Eckert Cemetery.
