Lady Bulldogs take 5-game win streak into this weekend’s play

The Lady Bulldogs upped their winning streak to five games last week after posting non-conference wins at Basalt and Ridgway.

On Dec. 11, the game at Ridgway went into overtime after ending in a 41-41 tie.

Ridgway was leading 34-26 at the end of the third. Katie Richards scored five of her game-high 13 points in the fourth and Natalie Anderson hit a 3-point shot to help keep the Lady Bulldogs alive.

The defense held Ridgway to one field goal in the final quarter. Ridgway was 4-5 from the line in the fourth.
Richards scored six of the team's seven overtime points for the win. Kylie Hodges, Anderson and Alexis Westergren each scored seven points for the Lady Bulldogs, with six of Westergren's points coming from the 3-point line. Daryl Batt and Jenny Celis each contributed four.

At Basalt, Richards scored a game-high 14 points, with Hodges adding 11, including two field goals in the fourth. Anderson was five of seven from the line for a total of seven points. All of Hotchkiss' 11 players had time on the court, and all 11 contributed points to the team's win.

Half of Basalt's points were from the free-throw line, and Basalt's Carina Capobianco scored nine points from the three line.

Hotchkiss will open the First Colorado National Bank Delta County tournament this Friday against Paonia (2-2) at 3 p.m.
