Bizer lost at 126 pounds on a third-round pin by Ben Pridy. At 132 pounds, fourth-ranked Pirate Jacob Solseth won by technical fall (19-2) over Hank Edwards.
At 138, Jesse Head posted the first win of the evening for the Bulldogs, pinning Tayson Harris in 29 seconds. At 145 pounds, Joe Boyle won in a heated match against Troy Rose, by an 8-6 decision.
Hotchkiss trailed 29-9 after Tristan Jones (152) pinned Bulldog Brendon Beck in 1:24. Hotchkiss began to rally. Dustin Head defeated Chayden Harris by a 6-3 decision to win the 160 class. Senior Tony Ibarra stepped up, pinning Riley Hutton in 1:21 for the Bulldog win at 170.
Hotchkiss trailed by five after 182-pounder Richard Steckel pinned Pirate Cody Frantz in 3:59.
The match was still within reach for the Bulldogs after a loss by forfeit at 195 pounds, but Pirate Felix Pena sealed the deal for Olathe, pinning Trenton Ballard in 1 minute flat to take a 41-24 lead.
Heavyweight Zack Taylor finished with a pin in 5:35 over Lance Kramer, and 106-pounder Jake Hubbell won by forfeit. Hotchkiss lost three matches (113, 120, 195) by forfeit.
The dual marked the final home competition of the season. Seniors Joe Boyle, Jacob Edwards, Dustin Head, Jesse Head, Tony Ibarra, Travis Leger (126), Richard Steckel and Zack Taylor were recognized for their contributions to the team. Each senior selected a school staff member to accompany them onto the mat for team introductions.
Hotchkiss dualed to a 2-2 record at the annual Rumble in the Rockies dual tournament held Saturday at Rifle. The Bulldogs defeated Moffat County, 43-18, and Montezuma-Cortez, 36-30. Hotchkiss posted a 51-20 loss against Rifle, and a 57-24 loss to Pueblo West. Rifle was 5-0 to win the tournament.
The Bulldogs travel Friday to Gunnison, then compete Feb. 2 at the Centauri Invitational at La Jara.
The junior varsity squad will end the season this Saturday. They will compete at the JV tournament at Grand Junction High School.
