The Bulldogs upped their record to 6-3 overall, 4-2 in 2A Western Slope League play after sweeping a conference double-header Saturday against Rangely (2-9, 1-5).
The Bulldogs opened the series with a 2-11 win over the Panthers.
Devan Rupe pitched nine strike-outs and allowed six hits in the win. Rupe also hit a two-run triple in the second and scored on a sacrifice hit by Hank Edwards to boost the Bulldogs lead to 5-1. Edwards also hit a two-run triple in the fifth.
Freshman pitcher Cesar Gonzalez threw 13 strike-outs in six innings in game two, including nine Ks in the first three innings.
Panther Toby Gasper opened game two with a two-run homer and a 2-0 lead for Rangely. Rupe led with a triple and scored on an RBI single by Hank Edwards. Edwards stole second base and came home on a double by Russ Evans to tie the game at 2-2.
Scott Henry contributed a two-RBI double, and Tye Bayles added a two-run single to the win. Hotchkiss scored six runs in the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Cole Carvill hit a two-run single to center field to put the Bulldogs up 10-3.
Hotchkiss scored two runs in the fifth, including a one-run triple by Brayden Wilson.
Evans hit a walk-off two-run single in the sixth to end the game.
