Four runs in the seventh inning lifted Rangely to a 7-6 upset win Friday over the visiting Hotchkiss Bulldogs. Hotchkiss opened the game with three runs in the first inning, then took a 6-4 lead with three more runs in the sixth.
The Bulldogs had two big innings, scoring eight runs in the third and 10 more in the fifth to end the game with a 21-6 win. Rangely cycled through five pitchers, allowing the Bulldogs 16 hits, 12 walks and three strike-outs in five innings. Hotchkiss had five strikeouts and two errors for the series.
Hotchkiss is now 12-5 overall, 8-4 in the 2A Western Slope League.
It played its final game of the season on Tuesday against Olathe (see the May 8 edition of the DCI for results). The Bulldogs will enter the 2A District 2 playoffs in second place in the Western Slope League. The six-team District 2 tournament is scheduled for May 10-11 at Delta. The top two teams in each of the eight districts will advance to the regional tournament on May 18. All regional games will be played on the Front Range.blog comments powered by Disqus
