After losing both games of a conference double-header against Paonia in March, Hotchkiss proved that it is a contender in the 2A Western Slope League by splitting its second double-header Saturday and outscoring Paonia 12-6 for the series.

To no one's surprise, Jennifer Celis claimed another track record, winning the 800-meter run Saturday in 2 minutes, 14.7 seconds to win the event at the Frank Woodburn Invitational in Grand Junction. Celis finished 10 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the two-lap race.
