The Lady Bulldogs suffered a disappointing three-set loss to visiting Rangely Friday. With three games remaining, Hotchkiss is in seventh place in the 2A Western Slope League with a 5-10 overall, 2-6 league record.
About the only thing to put a damper on the Bulldogs' 55-6 homecoming win over Roaring Fork was the little bit of rain that fell at the end of the first period.
Two touchdown runs by Jacobe Galley, a 28-yard pass play from Josh Hardin to Colton Farmer and a 5-yard scoring run by Trenton Tamayo gave Hotchkiss a 29-0 lead just 10 minutes into the first quarter.
Despite the benching of their best hitter, who missed an entire week of play while battling an illness, the Lady Bulldogs managed to pull off a 2-3 win Saturday over the visiting Lady Tigers of Hayden.
Hotchkiss pulled off a 27-25 win in game one. Setter Kelli Buhrdorf had a long string of serves, including two aces, to give the Lady Bulldogs an early 9-1 lead in game two.
The Hotchkiss tennis team had one of its best seasons in recent years, and sent two players into final-round competition at last week's 4A Region 8 tournament. The tournament "capped off a nice season, a fun season for sure," said head coach Brian Benson.
