‘Dogs’ win big; host Limon

Hotchkiss fullback Trenton Tamayo (35) finds himself in a tough spot as three Wiggins Tigers work on getting him to the ground. Tamayo had a great day for the Bulldogs as he scored three touchdowns in the 48-7 first-round win. Hotchkiss advances to the next round of play where it will host number two Limon in Hotchkiss this Saturday at 1 p.m.Jacobe Galley knew that Wiggins has size. And he knew that quarterback Thayer Sauter, who leads the league in total yards, is "pretty quick, he's pretty shifty. He likes to run the ball."

Bulldogs on road for opening 1A playoff game

b06 hhsfbPhoto by Randy Sunderland Hotchkiss’ Jacobe Galley bowled over this Meeker defender to put Hotchkiss up 28-0 just before half of the Friday night contest. Galley had an outstanding night, scoring three times and rushing for 280 yards.The Hotchkiss Bulldogs were definitely the top dawgs on Friday, Oct. 26, as they dominated the Meeker Cowboys in conference play. By halftime the Bulldogs were up 28-0, giving coach Zac Lemon the opportunity to play many of his younger players in the second half and give his starters a little rest as they head into playoff action this week.

Lady Bulldogs have best VB over 3 years

Roberts, a former all-state volleyball player at Hotchkiss, sees a bright future for her team.When she accepted the position as head volleyball coach for Hotchkiss in August, Kendall Roberts jumped at the opportunity. She had been waiting for a coaching position.

Hotchkiss girls XC Champs

Pictured are Sophia Schelle, Natalie Anderson, Mae Anderson, Jenni Celis and Tiffany Clock.The Hotchkiss girls' cross country team earned 16 points to claim the state 2A championship Saturday at Colorado Springs. It was the first cross country title for the school and for head coach Kelly Cowan.

Bulldogs’ volleyball team wins two; districts next

District playoffs are scheduled for this week.It's been an up-and-down season, but last weekend the Hotchkiss volleyball team posted consecutive and convincing wins over Soroco and Plateau Valley to end the season with a 7-11 overall, 4-7 league record.

"Tonight was awesome," said head coach Kendal Roberts following Saturday's three-set win over Plateau Valley, a team Hotchkiss had lost to in early-season play by a match total of 11 points.

Hotchkiss boys’, girls’ XC teams qualify for state

Anderson is the sister of Natalie Anderson, who is ranked third in the state.Mae Anderson didn't expect to qualify for state cross country as an individual her freshman year. Running for Hotchkiss, the top-ranked 2A team in the state, she knew the team would qualify.
