Hotchkiss set a new record in the race by shaving five seconds off the old time.This year's Bulldog track team drew roughly 55 student-athletes to its roster. While a handful of athletes were absent from Saturday's Delta Invitational meet, the boys' team earned 68 points and one gold to finish fourth overall, and the girls finished fifth with 59 points and claimed three golds and a meet record.

Hotchkiss hardball team fundamentally sound

Hotchkiss is 3-1 after sweeping the field at the Demon Invitational.They may not have any superstars, but this year's Bulldogs baseball team is solid on fundamentals, said head coach Jason Yantzer. The basics have worked so far for the Bulldogs, who are 3-1 after the first week of play.

Hotchkiss loses to GS tennis team, 5-2

The Hotchkiss girls' tennis team opened its season on March 7 at Glenwood Springs. Glenwood claimed a 5-2 win, but Hotchkiss was only a few points away from a team win, said coach Brian Benson, who saw his team's performance as "a good start for us.

Limon ousts Hotchkiss

c07 hhsgbb1Nadine Wilson photo Hotchkiss’ Natalie Anderson looks to split the Limon defense with her dribble in last Friday night’s opening round action of the Region 2 basketball tournament at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. The Lady Badgers had too much defense for Hotchkiss as they eliminated the Lady Bulldogs from the 2A state tournament with a 41-29 victory.In their first year in Class 2A, the Hotchkiss Lady Bulldogs basketball team finished third in Western Slope district standings. Hotchkiss advanced to Region 2 competition at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling last Friday, where it ended its season with a 41-29 loss to Limon.

Hotchkiss girls earn trip to Sterling for regionals

Hotchkiss will play Limon this Friday in the first round of regional playoffs at Northeastern Junior College.The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Sterling to compete in the 2A Region Two basketball tournament after placing third at last week's 2A District 5 tournament. Hotchkiss advanced on a pigtail win over Hayden on Feb. 26.

Hotchkiss sends two to state finals; finish 10th

Boyle was one of two Bulldog wrestlers to advance to the championship round. He and Jesse Head (138) placed second.Hotchkiss 138-pounder Jesse Head was elated just to qualify for the state 3A wrestling tournament. He missed it last year, not because he couldn't qualify, but because of a wicked case of cauliflower ear.

Hotchkiss senior Cody Bartlett

Bartlett was a three-year runner for the Hotchkiss cross country and track teams, earning all-state honors for both teams. Watching Bartlett sign his letter is Hotchkiss cross country and head track coach Kelly Cowan.
