Just two days after placing second at the state 2A cross country finals and leading her team to the state championship, Hotchkiss senior Natalie Anderson was one of two high school students in the state to win the Wendy's High School Heisman award.
Each year, Wendy's awards one male and one female senior from each of the 50 states with the Heisman.
Hotchkiss was eliminated from Class 1A football playoffs Saturday after a 27-7 first-round loss to Burlington. The Bulldogs suffered two misfortunes before the game — the first when starting quarterback Devan Rupe suffered a season-ending concussion two weeks before playoffs, and the second last week at practice when running back Alex Smith suffered a concussion.
Jennifer Celis and Natalie Anderson are going to be a tough act to follow.
While they may be most recognized for their athletic achievements, the two seniors are entrenched in Hotchkiss High School.
