Hotchkiss wins 6 of 7 in upper weights, falls short against OHS

The dual, held Friday at Hotchkiss, ended in a 41-36 win for Olathe. Hotchkiss will compete in the WSL Duals at Cedaredge on Feb. 8.A pin at 220 pounds by Olathe sealed Friday's 41-36 win over the Hotchkiss Bulldogs.

Tanner Bizer was the first Bulldog on the mat.

Lady Bulldogs win two, 4-0 in WSL action

c06 hhsgbbPhoto by Tamie Meck Guard Alexsus Wilson attempts a shot over a Soroco defender in the Lady Bulldogs’ 64-36 conference win over the Lady Rams.Hotchkiss is now 9-4 overall and undefeated in conference play after weekend wins over Soroco and Hayden. Despite more than 20 turnovers, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Soroco (7-3 overall, 0-2 Western Slope League), 64-36, Friday at home. The defense held the Lady Rams to three points in the opening period of play.

Three Hotchkiss players scored in double digits. Point guard Natalie Anderson finished the game with 10 field goals and 25 points.

‘Dogs lose to league leader Hayden, bounce back to defeat Soroco

Hotchkiss places 3rd at Salida mat tourney

Taylor, a senior, missed early-season wrestling while recovering from an injury sustained during football. Taylor placed second at Salida and Eagle Valley tournaments.The Bulldogs placed eight wrestlers and earned two championships and 139 points to finish third Saturday at the 51st annual Rob Mickel wrestling tournament at Salida. Del Norte earned 195.5 points to win the 19-team tournament.

Bulldog five stumble in Meeker, beat RHS

Hotchkiss will host two conference games this weekend.Hotchkiss ended the weekend with a 6-3 overall record after a disappointing 15-point loss to Meeker Friday and a win at Rangely.

The Bulldogs couldn't get traction in Friday's loss to Meeker (4-2 overall, 0-0 2A Western Slope League).

HHS grapplers tie for second at EV tourney

After a lackluster showing at the Warrior Classic and a dual loss to Cedaredge last week, Hotchkiss rumbled to a tie for second place at Saturday's Eagle Valley Invitational.

The Bulldogs, who were open in three weight classes, had two championships, two second-place finishers and one fourth place to earn 140 points at the 18-team tournament; the host Eagle Valley Devils placed six wrestlers in the top four to earn 140 points.

Bulldog five outshoot Paonia second time

Spano scored 15 points for the Eagles in the loss.A 20-point fourth period that included four consecutive free throws in the final moments of the game resulted in a second win this season for Hotchkiss over the neighboring Paonia Eagles. Two weeks earlier at the Delta County tournament, the Bulldogs, competing in their first year as a class 2A team, pulled off a three-point win over Paonia in a game that came down to the final seconds.
