Boyle was 2-2 at the tournament and was one of two Bulldogs to advance to day-two competition.In the opening seconds of Joe Boyle's Saturday morning match against Fruita Monument's 152-pounder Kaden Fife, the two collided on a take-down attempt. Fife's head gear cut a gash just above Boyle's right eye.

Lady Bulldogs take 5-game win streak into this weekend’s play

The Lady Bulldogs upped their winning streak to five games last week after posting non-conference wins at Basalt and Ridgway.

On Dec. 11, the game at Ridgway went into overtime after ending in a 41-41 tie.

‘Dogs’ rely on depth in early-season play

b10 hhsbbbPhoto by Tamie Meck Hotchkiss sophomore Wes Hardin saw little action as a varsity freshman but is proving to be a solid player after starting his first game this season. Hardin scored eight points in the Bulldogs’ 47-22 win over Gunnison.If the Bulldogs have any one thing going for them this season, it's depth. Hotchkiss opened the season with a 55-44 win over Olathe, then defeated Gunnison in last Thursday's home opener, 47-22.

Hotckiss matmen earn seventh place in Delta

b09 hhswrPhoto by Tamie Meck Paonia’s Zach Milner and Hotchkiss’ Dustin Head circle the mat in their 152 pound match during the Delta Invitational Wrestling Tournament last week.Hotchkiss placed six wrestlers at Saturday's Delta Panther Invitational wrestling tournament. They earned 95.5 points to place seventh in the 12-team tournament.

Bulldog girls win twice

Hotchkiss won the contest by a 35-34 score.Their season-opener loss to Olathe was a tough one, but the Lady Bulldogs followed up with wins over Gunnison and Vail Christian last weekend. With 11 points, Natalie Anderson was high scorer Saturday at Edwards.

New class, coach at HHS

Hotchkiss will compete this season in the 2A WSL under new head coach Eric Hollembeak.The Lady Bulldogs have many reasons to be optimistic about the season. With 31 on the roster, they have enough players to field three teams, with little crossover.
