b05 hhsccPhoto by Carrie Coats Hotchkiss High School’s girls’ cross country team turned in an outstanding collective performance and won the 2A state championship. Pictured are Sophia Schelle, Natalie Anderson, Mae Anderson, Jenni Celis and Tiffany Clock.The Hotchkiss girls' cross country team earned 16 points to claim the state 2A championship Saturday at Colorado Springs. It was the first cross country title for the school and for head coach Kelly Cowan.

Bulldogs’ volleyball team wins two; districts next

District playoffs are scheduled for this week.It's been an up-and-down season, but last weekend the Hotchkiss volleyball team posted consecutive and convincing wins over Soroco and Plateau Valley to end the season with a 7-11 overall, 4-7 league record.

"Tonight was awesome," said head coach Kendal Roberts following Saturday's three-set win over Plateau Valley, a team Hotchkiss had lost to in early-season play by a match total of 11 points.

Hotchkiss boys’, girls’ XC teams qualify for state

Anderson is the sister of Natalie Anderson, who is ranked third in the state.Mae Anderson didn't expect to qualify for state cross country as an individual her freshman year. Running for Hotchkiss, the top-ranked 2A team in the state, she knew the team would qualify.

Bulldogs rout Eagles for sixth North Fork Bowl title

Hotchkiss defeated Paonia, 39-6, to claim the North Fork Bowl Trophy for the sixth consecutive year. The game was played in Paonia.Once again, Hotchkiss claimed the win at the annual North Fork Bowl gridiron game against Paonia. The Bulldogs scored three first-half touchdowns and took advantage of seven Eagles' turnovers to win Friday night's game, 39-6, at Paonia.

NF Bowl, a season maker

This Friday, the communities of Paonia and Hotchkiss will be cheering as their hometown football teams play out their annual rivalry at Paonia. While the winners take home the North Fork Bowl trophy, which Hotchkiss has claimed the past five years, there's more at stake this year than just bragging rights.

Hotchkiss XC teams primed for regional win

When Natalie Anderson found out her 3A cross country team would be splitting off with Paonia High School and dropping to Class 2A, she already knew who her strongest competition would be.

Crested Butte's Amber Scott and Telluride's Rachel Hampton are ranked first and second going into today's 2A Region 4 meet.

Hotchkiss net team hosts final games of regular season

The Lady Bulldogs suffered a disappointing three-set loss to visiting Rangely Friday. With three games remaining, Hotchkiss is in seventh place in the 2A Western Slope League with a 5-10 overall, 2-6 league record.

Bulldogs pummel Rams 55-6 in 2012 homecoming grid tilt

About the only thing to put a damper on the Bulldogs' 55-6 homecoming win over Roaring Fork was the little bit of rain that fell at the end of the first period.

Two touchdown runs by Jacobe Galley, a 28-yard pass play from Josh Hardin to Colton Farmer and a 5-yard scoring run by Trenton Tamayo gave Hotchkiss a 29-0 lead just 10 minutes into the first quarter.
