When Natalie Anderson found out her 3A cross country team would be splitting off with Paonia High School and dropping to Class 2A, she already knew who her strongest competition would be.

Crested Butte's Amber Scott and Telluride's Rachel Hampton are ranked first and second going into today's 2A Region 4 meet.

Hotchkiss net team hosts final games of regular season

The Lady Bulldogs suffered a disappointing three-set loss to visiting Rangely Friday. With three games remaining, Hotchkiss is in seventh place in the 2A Western Slope League with a 5-10 overall, 2-6 league record.

Bulldogs pummel Rams 55-6 in 2012 homecoming grid tilt

About the only thing to put a damper on the Bulldogs' 55-6 homecoming win over Roaring Fork was the little bit of rain that fell at the end of the first period.

Two touchdown runs by Jacobe Galley, a 28-yard pass play from Josh Hardin to Colton Farmer and a 5-yard scoring run by Trenton Tamayo gave Hotchkiss a 29-0 lead just 10 minutes into the first quarter.

Hotchkiss adds win, loss in VB

Mandy Chermak (12) sends the ball back to Hayden in game one of a five-set match against the Tigers. Hotchkiss will play its final scheduled games at home, beginning with the Homecoming game Friday against Rangely.
Despite the benching of their best hitter, who missed an entire week of play while battling an illness, the Lady Bulldogs managed to pull off a 2-3 win Saturday over the visiting Lady Tigers of Hayden.

Hotchkiss pulled off a 27-25 win in game one. Setter Kelli Buhrdorf had a long string of serves, including two aces, to give the Lady Bulldogs an early 9-1 lead in game two.

Hotchkiss places two at regional tennis

Hotchkiss senior No. 1 singles player Tony Ibarra chases down the ball against Druango in the 4A Region 8 tennis tournament.
The Hotchkiss tennis team had one of its best seasons in recent years, and sent two players into final-round competition at last week's 4A Region 8 tournament. The tournament "capped off a nice season, a fun season for sure," said head coach Brian Benson.

Hotchkiss runners rank high going to regionals

Tyrell Clock competes at the Chris Severy Invitational in Aspen on Saturday. The course is located just above 8,000 feet in elevation and it has steep, long climbs that make for a long and memorable race for competitors.
The Hotchkiss girls claimed the team title with 24 points at the annual Chris Severy Memorial cross country invitational at Aspen on Saturday.

Holy Family placed second with 42 points.

Bulldogs rout Lake County in 1A grid action

Hotchkiss defensive back Dustin Head (31) makes a tackle against Olathe early in the season. Head is currently ranked second in the 1A WSL in tackles. It’s Homecoming week at Hotchkiss and the Bulldogs will host Roaring Fork this Friday at 7 p.m.
The Hotchkiss Bulldogs lifted their overall record to 4-2 and their Western Slope League record to 1-1 following Friday night's on-the-road, 55-20 win over Lake County. The Bulldogs are currently in third place in 1A Max Preps WSL standings.

Paonia wins Pink Night VB

October is national Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each year the Colorado High School Activities Association's "Think Pink" campaign, held in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, urges teams to promote awareness of breast cancer during October.
