This year's Bulldog track team drew roughly 55 student-athletes to its roster. While a handful of athletes were absent from Saturday's Delta Invitational meet, the boys' team earned 68 points and one gold to finish fourth overall, and the girls finished fifth with 59 points and claimed three golds and a meet record.
They may not have any superstars, but this year's Bulldogs baseball team is solid on fundamentals, said head coach Jason Yantzer. The basics have worked so far for the Bulldogs, who are 3-1 after the first week of play.
The Hotchkiss girls' tennis team opened its season on March 7 at Glenwood Springs. Glenwood claimed a 5-2 win, but Hotchkiss was only a few points away from a team win, said coach Brian Benson, who saw his team's performance as "a good start for us.
In their first year in Class 2A, the Hotchkiss Lady Bulldogs basketball team finished third in Western Slope district standings. Hotchkiss advanced to Region 2 competition at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling last Friday, where it ended its season with a 41-29 loss to Limon.
