Colorado State University Extension's Tri-River Area is pleased to announce that Douglas Dean was hired on March 1 to fill the livestock/range agent position left vacant by Robbie Baird LeValley.
The new livestock/range agent holds a Bachelor of Science degree in range/wildlife science, as well as a Master's degree in business administration from Texas Tech University.
Previously, Dean was employed as the general manager and big game director for a large Western Slope ranch. In addition, Dean has managed cattle and hunting on ranches in south Texas, as well as interned at the Texas A&M Agricultural Research Station in Sonora, Texas.
He has more than 10 years' experience in cattle production and management; is knowledgeable about developing customized rotational grazing systems for improving rangeland; and has extensive experience in range monitoring, as well as in wildlife management.
