Cedaredge participated in the Nucla/Norwood Tournament over the weekend. Paonia won the tournament with 209 points and Norwood placed second with 184.
Cedaredge finished third after scoring 166 points and Hotchkiss was fifth with 102.
The Bruins had numerous placers in the tournament with 138-pounder Peter Williamson winning the title with a fall over Paonia's Isaac Ferguson. Cedaredge heavyweight Mario Madaleno also was a titlist with a pin over Norwood's Damian Nieblas at 285 pounds.
Jake Ostrom was in the finals with Paonia's Jesse Reed at 126 with Reed getting the win by fall at 3:33.
Landon Eckhart wrestled Norwood's Ethan Barnes for the 195-pound title. Barnes claimed the title with a fall.
In third-place matches, Wyatt Toothaker pinned Paonia's Eli Etter and Austin Todd scored a major decision (12-4) over Palisade's Alex Gutierrez.
Palisade's Quin Day pinned the Bruins' Mickey Madaleno to win third-place at 138 and Ethan Allred of Rangely scored a technical fall over Tre LaBossiere for third.
Third place went to Cedaredge's Alejandro Alejandre after a pin over Mancos' Everett Strazza at 170. Brian Leahy pinned Palisade's Drake Buford to win the 182-pound third-place award and Garrett Humble claimed third place with a pin over Hotchkiss' Tristen Todd.blog comments powered by Disqus
