Last Tuesday's baseball matchup between Paonia and Cedaredge was billed as a good game to watch. As it turned out, it was a great game.
Each team had big offensive runs early in the game, with the host Bruins holding on for a non-conference 10-7 win.
Paonia struck first with two runs in the top half of the first inning, with the Bruins countering with a singleton to trail 2-1 going to the second frame.
The Eagles put more pressure on Cedaredge with a big four-run inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Bruins were just getting warmed up, however, as they exploded for five runs in the bottom half of the second and a 6-6 tie.
Cedaredge took the lead for good in the bottom of the third with a single run and then plated three more runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-6 lead.
The Eagles scored once in the top of the seventh to make the final score 10-7.
Trent Walker was Cedaredge's big gun with three hits, including a double, and six RBIs. He also scored a run.
Aaron Henrie equaled Walker's plate performance in hitting with three hits of his own, including a double.
Colton Ensley went two-for-three for the Bruins.
Paonia got three hits from Keaton Kropp and three RBIs, including a double. Jared Byrge was two-for-three with an RBI and Tyler Jackson had one hit in three at bats with an RBI.
Cedaredge picked up two more wins on Saturday, posting 10-0 and 14-4 wins over Grand Valley.
