Behind Kyle Ward's three touchdowns and Xander Camp's two six-pointers, the Cedaredge Bruins remained in the hunt for a post-season playoff berth. Cedaredge trounced the visiting Lake County Panthers 52-0 improving its record to 3-1 in 1A WSL play and 6-2 overall.
Paonia moved to the top spot in the WSL with its 21-0 win over Hotchkiss last week. Hotchkiss is second and the Bruins are third in league standings.
Cedaredge jumped on the hapless Panthers for 32 points in the first quarter and took that lead to the locker room at halftime.
The Bruins scored twice in the third quarter and posted a lone touchdown in the final stanza.
On the ground, junior Xander Camp continued his rushing heroics for the Bruins with two touchdowns on 12 carries and 118 yards.
Beau Hebert and Tristen Waddell tacked on rushing touchdowns to give Cedaredge four TDs on the ground. In all, the Bruins amassed 201 yards on the ground.
In the air, Trent Walker was nine of 15 passing for 144 yards and four touchdowns. Ward's big day included five catches for 138 yards and three touchdowns. Tylor Beach had two catches for 59 yards, including the game's longest catch (57 yards) and one touchdown.
Garrett Humble led Cedaredge's defense with 10 tackles, with teammates Hebert and Taber Anderson close behind with seven and five tackles apiece.
Bryce Klaseen was four-for-eight on extra points to account for the Bruins' 52 points.
